Zūm is proud to provide St. Louis Public Schools with safe, reliable transportation provided by our dedicated drivers AND MONITORS.
We are grateful for the commitment our drivers and monitors show every day to students and families in this community.
THE ZUM DIFFERENCE
We respect and support our drivers’ and monitors’ legal right to choose whether they want union representation. At the same time, we believe our record speaks for itself: Zum drivers earn extremely competitive wages – approximately twice the state minimum wage – along with exceptional benefits and career growth opportunities. This competitive package has made Zum the nation’s leading school transportation provider and has allowed us to attract and hire thousands of drivers and monitors who want to be part of our team. These new drivers and monitors are coming to Zum for a reason — they like the way Zum treats them, and know that they are valued.
GET THE FACTS ABOUT JOINING A UNION

Drivers & Monitors would be paying:
between $31 and $156 per month under the Teamsters
minimum of $44.00 per month under the Laborers
minimum of $39.72 to a maximum of $55.50 per month under ATU
in dues after contract ratification – every month.
Voting NONE allows you to keep an average of $782.16 in your pocket every year – not the union’s pocket.
INVEST IN YOURSELF — NOT UNION DUES
Put $60 a month into your 401k instead of union dues and watch it grow into tens of thousands for your future. With Zum matching 50% of your contributions (up to 5% of your pay), your retirement savings build faster, creating lasting wealth.

Zum respects its drivers and monitors, and pays them top industry wages and benefits
In fact, Zum pays its SLPS bus drivers and trainers more than drivers would have received under the agreement that the Laborers’ union negotiated with the previous provider for 2025-26 – without having to pay union dues.

TESTIMONIALS
I love driving and being out on the road, rather than being stuck in the office. It feels like you’re your own boss. Going through the Zum training program to become a certified school bus driver prepared me very well for the job. I think joining Zum is a smart choice and a rewarding, stable future — not just a job, but a career.

“I love driving, I love being around kids and trying to make a difference in their lives every chance I get. … I know that I’m not just a number here at Zum, and that means a lot.”
Connie M.
“I really felt supported through the whole process. I don’t know that I would have been able to go through with it if it hadn’t been for the amazing staff and the instruction that I received with Zum.”
